About Me

Hi there and welcome to Disorderly Teaching! My name is Tracy and I teach ESE (aka special education) Intensive Reading in a Florida high school. I spend my days with students from grade 9 through 12, all of whom struggle with reading and have some sort of disability or disorder etc. Even though it's challenging, I love my kids and strive to give them the love and support they so often lack.

Luckily I'm joined by my darling co-teacher Janice. She's a fount of wisdom and knowledge, but she's also crazy fun and adoring like me. I never in a million years would have looked to co-teach with someone, but when admin asked us to, it didn't take long for us to say yes. She's the older sister I never had and our classes are never boring when we're together.

The main reason I created this blog is because there seems to be so little love online for high school teachers (and even less for Intensive Reading). I see so many amazing pins and blog posts focused on elementary and I must admit, I get jealous. So I'm putting this out there for all of the secondary teachers clamoring for cute ideas, free printables, and great teaching resources.

I've also recently learned that I have a few disorders myself (hence Disorderly Teaching). I've got ADD, mild OCD, and am in the process of getting a diagnosis for Asperger's, which I, my family, and my co-workers have unofficially diagnosed. So you can look forward to future posts of pursuing a diagnosis, as well as info about how these disorders affect me as a teacher, and my coping strategies for dealing with them.

I absolutely love being a teacher, but do have a life outside of the classroom. I love getting crafty, and will be creating a craft studio in our new house eventually. Of course I love reading (I'm obsessed with Harry Potter - Go Hufflepuff!), watching too much TV and anime, and playing video games. I'm also a beginning runner, although my asthma is fighting me on that : p
So, that's me in a (gif filled) nutshell. I hope you enjoy your time here. Don't forget to follow Disorderly Teaching, or come check me out on Pinterest.
